Fit for a Tudor banquet Delicious Tudor Rose Marzipan cake centrepiece

This week was Tudor week on the Great British bake off.

After much research into the Tudors I decided to bake & make a Tudor themed Marzipan  showstopper.
For the marzipan I used this recipe from Good housekeeping magazine marzipan recipe

Which I coloured to my desired colours with red white, green & a dash of gold, I then made a thin disc of almond & mixed fruit sponge cake.

the cake was then Finished off with a Hand crafted marzipan Tudor rose with Tudor window pain style on the red velvety marzipan cake covering, a twisted rope surround & final flourish with a love knot gilded in gold lustre along with golden lustre centre for the rose itself.

I truly enjoyed making this cake it took around 5 hours with prep over 2 days.

& here is the final look

Until next time happy baking
